I suppose it depends on the business. However, I don't necessarily think so. If you happen to have a family who feels the same way you do about the same business them that's great, you should do business with them. The reality for most families though is that they are not really passionate about the same things. 

A business deserves to have the right people for the right jobs and family members ought to be free to choose any organisation to maximise their potential. Because of these, I don't think businesses should be familial. 

But what is it about families that you would like to carry over to business? If it is the commitment, trust, being comfortable with each other, etc... Then just try to build those in your business instead.
