Bitcoin is the name for a digital network, a digital currency and the protocol that maintains and operates it. It was introduced to the world by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009. It is a digital cash system that operates without the need for central banks or single administrators, where Bitcoin can be sent peer-to-peer without the need for intermediaries. Since then, there are now 3 projects claiming to be the real Bitcoin: Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV). This section uses the term Bitcoin as a general term, not being specific to BTC, BCH or BSV.
